DeSoto is a scenic suburb just 15 miles outside of downtown Dallas in the southwest corner of Dallas County – or what’s known as “The Best Southwest.”
Established in 1847, it is one of the oldest settlements in North Texas and made the transition from a farmland community into an incorporated town in the 1940s as Dallas began booming.
DeSoto’s scenic views can be seen in dozens of parks and trails; plus, nearby is Cedar Hill State Park on the eastern shore of the 7,500-acre Joe Pool Lake.
DeSoto has a 60,000 square foot lighted BMX track hosting motos year-round in all racing categories. Upon opening, it was the first covered BMX track in the country.
Family-friendly events and festivals held throughout the year include a crawfish festival and free concerts in the park, a Juneteenth celebration and a fireworks festival.
