Follow all guidance from local officials
Keep a flashlight, batteries and emergency supplies within reach
Conserve your phone battery by switching to power save mode and use it only when necessary
In case of a power outage, limit how often you open your refrigerator or freezer to keep food cold
Keep electronics and appliances unplugged to protect them from power surges
Report power outages and downed power lines to your utility company

Listen to local officials. Watch the news, listen to NOAA weather radios and download apps like The Weather Channel (Android, iOS) or AccuWeather  (Android, iOS) to stay informed as the weather evolves.
Check for Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). These are notifications sent by government authorities to your smartphone. Enable these alerts for real-time information during an emergency.
Opt in to Reliant text messages. Sign up through your online account or the Reliant app to have urgent updates delivered directly to your phone.
Sign up for alerts from your utility provider. Text alerts can notify you of power outages and status updates.
