1. Gather your personal documents

To begin service with Reliant we’ll first need some basic details, so having your personal information handy, such as a valid form of I.D. or Social Security number, and full service address, will accelerate the process.2

2. Find the right plan for you

Reliant has a variety of plans for every budget and lifestyle. Whether you want to lock into a fixed-rate plan or look into a flexible, month-to-month plan, Reliant has you covered with affordable options. We understand that every customer has different needs, that’s why we make it easy to pick from a variety of choices and term lengths, including 12-, 24- and 36-month plans. Plus, if you’re looking to live greener, we have you covered with renewable options.

3. Complete Enrollment

After choosing your plan, follow these five simple steps to complete enrollment:

  1. About you - Provide personal information such as your name, date of birth and email address.
  2. Start date – Enter the date you would like your service to begin.
  3. Credit check - If a deposit is required, you will be notified of the amount in this section.
  4. Verification – Verify your personal information, selected plan, address and deposit amount (if applicable).
  5. Enrollment complete – As your last step, click “Complete enrollment," and you're ready to start your electricity service with Reliant.

Acceptable forms of identification to set up a Reliant account include:

  • Valid, non-expired state issued identification card
  • Driver's license from the United States
  • Passport (only front of document is required)
  • Alien registration card
  • Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country)
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License

Many term plans charge an early cancellation fee if the contract is terminated prior to the expiration date. An early cancellation fee may be avoided if you are moving and provide prior notice of the move, including a forwarding address and, if applicable, other evidence supporting the move. If you're starting service at a new location, you can sign up before 5 p.m. for same-day power and after 5 p.m. for next-day service. However, there are a few factors that could delay service. For example, if your meter is physically inaccessible or a permit is required, we cannot guarantee the transfer date you select. Please keep in mind that you may need to satisfy certain requirements, such as paying a deposit or providing valid ID, and delays in satisfying these requirements can delay your start date.

In most cases, you don’t need to be home at the time of connectivity. If you do, Reliant will let you know ahead of time.

1 Upon enrollment you can provide either a Driver’s License or Social Security number. This information will be used to check if a deposit is needed and verify your identity for account access. For best results, we recommend providing your social security number.

2 Requests processed after 5:00 p.m. Central Time will be connected the next business day. Same-day service is offered Monday through Saturday, weather permitting, where an existing meter is in place. No connections on holidays. Enrollment and permit requirements must be met before a request can be processed. Additional charges apply.

3 Referrals may only be submitted by active Reliant residential customers with a Texas service address. To qualify for bill credit, referrals must be new Reliant residential customers in Texas enrolled on a term plan with a minimum of ten days of active electricity service on that plan. Bill credit will be applied within two billing cycles after the referred customer has completed ten days of active electricity service. Any disputes relating to eligibility will be determined solely by Reliant. Reliant may modify or discontinue this program at any time without notice. Additional terms and conditions apply.
