What are Reliant text messages?

Reliant text messages are a convenient way to stay informed about your account, service-related requests, usage, billing, and more. Once you opt in, you'll automatically start to receive account and service-related notifications, which you can manage anytime in your online account. You can also request updates on demand (as you need them) by texting a keyword to 697697. Please note that the types of texts available are slightly different for customers on prepaid plans.

How do I sign up for Reliant text messages?

You can opt in through your online account. Once logged in, go to "My Account" and then "Profile." Choose "Alerts & contact preferences" and select which messages you want to receive.

You can also call us at 713-207-7777 or 1-866-222-7100, and provide the call center agent your mobile number. You will be sent a welcome message via text message on your mobile device, and you will begin receiving account alerts.

Which types of Reliant text messages can I receive automatically?

From the “Alerts & contact preferences" in your online account, you can sign up for a variety of automatic alerts:

Receive an alert 5 days before your Reliant bill is due (Note: If this alert does not reach you, you are still responsible for paying your bill on or before the due date.)
Receive an alert if your usage on a specific day is at least 25% higher than expected (based on actual weather and your home's previous usage for corresponding weather conditions)
Receive an alert when your bill is ready
Receive an alert when your payment is confirmed
Receive an alert when your payment method is declined
Receive an alert when your credit card is about to expire (AutoPay only)
Receive an alert confirming your AutoPay cancellation
Receive alerts when you request to start or stop service, or when a disconnect notice or reconnect notice has been issued
Other account and service-related notifications.

I have the Reliant Pay as you Go plan. Which types of Reliant text messages can I sign up for and receive automatically?

From the “Alerts & contact preferences” menu in your online account, you can sign up for a variety of automatic alerts:

Receive a payment confirmation alert when your account has been updated to reflect a recent payment*
Receive a weekly balance alert with your balance and estimated days left*
Receive a low balance alert when your account balance is estimated to drop below $5 in 7 days or less, based on average electricity usage*
Receive an alert if your usage on a specific day is at least 25% higher than expected (based on actual weather and your home's previous usage for corresponding weather conditions)
Receive an alert when your payment was not processed
Receive an alert when your credit card is about to expire (AutoPay only)
Receive an alert when you have been removed from AutoPay
Receive alerts when you request to start or stop service, or when a disconnect notice or reconnect request has been issued
Be notified when new text alerts are available.

*Payment confirmation, weekly balance and low balance alerts (via text message or email) are mandatory communications as part of the Reliant Pay as you Go plan.
