    Community Assistance by Reliant Energy (CARE) program

    Reliant is passionate about supporting our customers and communities. Our CARE program, made possible thanks to Reliant and customer contributions, helps customers who are facing financial hardship pay their electricity bills. We’re proud to say that in true Texas spirit, Reliant has provided more than $14 million in statewide agency assistance since 2002 to help customers pay their electricity bills.

    If you are a Reliant customer and need help paying your electricity bill, call 2-1-1 or visit 211texas.org for agency assistance near you. If you don’t meet the federal guideline criteria, inform the 211 representative that you are a Reliant customer and would like information on agencies that have support from CARE.

    Although each agency's requirements are different, you may have to show proof of need, like your last electricity bill and a disconnection notice. If needed, you can access your bill in your online account or request a copy of your disconnection notice by calling  1-866-222-7100.

    • If you qualify, it may take up to 8 weeks to receive financial assistance
    • 2-1-1 Texas does not administer funds directly but can connect you with agency partners in your area
    • Assistance is issued at the discretion of our agency partners to eligible customers, and it may not cover your entire electricity bill
