Customer Assistance and Relief for Energy bills (CARE) program

Reliant is passionate about supporting our customers and communities. The CARE program was created to help customers facing financial hardship pay their electricity bills. Reliant is proud to say that, in true Texas spirit, more than $18 million has been provided in statewide agency assistance since 2002 to help customers pay their electricity bills.

If you are a Reliant customer and need help paying your electricity bill, visit one of our CARE agency partners below. You can also call 2-1-1 or visit 211texas.org for agency assistance near you.

Although each agency's requirements are different, you may have to show proof of need, like your last electricity bill and a disconnection notice. If needed, you can access your bill in your online account or request a copy of your disconnection notice by calling 1-866-222-7100.

Many seniors we help live on small fixed incomes and some also rely on family for support. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic has put households in dire situations. In one instance, because of a family’s close ties with staff at our Missouri City location, they were comfortable letting the caseworker know that their electricity was at risk of interruption. With the funds provided through the CARE program, they received the maximum allowance of $500 toward their electric bill. With the holidays coming fast and COVID still interrupting the lives of many – the CARE program was a tremendous lifeline for this vulnerable but loving family.
