We are strongly committed to caring for the environment and the communities we serve. Our customers have told us that energy efficiency is important to them as a way to save energy and help the environment. We have helped customers learn to conserve energy through a number of tools, resources and programs.

 

Tools & Resources

Energy Savings Center
More than 200,000 customers have been helped over the past two years with visits to our Energy Savings Center. This center is an online resource that provides articles, tools, tips and general information about ways to save energy for both your home and business. Our Business Energy Savings Center also provides industry-specific information around making the right energy efficient purchases and improving the performance of your equipment to help control costs.

 

Online Energy Audits
Online energy audits are performed through an interactive tool that analyzes a customer’s data and returns detailed information around that customer’s specific energy consumption. It identifies how and where you are using the most energy, provides energy-saving opportunities and summarizes the overall energy efficiency of a customer's home or  business.

 

Energy Expert Team
We have a team of Customer Care Representatives who understand the best way for our customers to save energy in their homes. When customers have questions about energy efficiency, our team of experts is here to help through email at energyexperts@reliant.com.

Programs

Rebuilding Together Houston
Rebuilding Together Houston (RTH) is a non-profit organization that provides home repair services for low income, elderly and/or disabled Houston-area homeowners. Each spring and fall, Reliant Energy volunteers team up with RTH to work on its home repair projects. In 2006, approximately 200 Reliant Energy employees volunteered to work on eight homes in the Houston area.

Habitat for Humanity
Our partnership with the Rangers gives us the chance to participate in community activities, such as Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Dallas (RTD). Reliant helped build houses for three north Texas families and donated electricity for a year to Habitat for Humanity families.

Acres Homes Energy Efficiency Makeover
We recently made a $600,000 investment in a low-income Houston neighborhood, Acres Homes Community. The investment went toward making energy efficiency improvements to approximately 300 homes; reducing the energy consumption in each household.

 

Home Energy Advisors Team
This group of English and Spanish speaking energy experts travels to schools, trade shows and community events to help people better understand electricity usage.
