We want to help you avoid surprises during high energy use times to make your household budgeting easier. When you sign up, you’ll pay the average* of the current bill and 11 previous bills. In fact, for most customers the monthly difference, one month to the next, is no more than $20.

We'll base each monthly payment on a 12-month average--here's how:

• First, we add up your monthly bill amounts for 12 months, if available.
• Next, we divide the result by 12, or by the total months available for your service address.
• Finally, we add or subtract 1/12 of your Deferred Balance.**

*Average bill is based on the average of 11 previous bills and current bill for the address divided by 12 of the total months available for your service address. If there is no previous billing in your name at the service address, or you do not have 11 months of bill amounts at the service address, we will take the previous usage at that service address and apply your current price to calculate your average monthly amount then subtract or add 1/12 of your deferred balance. **The Deferred Balance Amount is the cumulative difference between your monthly Average Billing amount and your actual bill.  If the amount is positive, we will add 1/12; if it is a debit, we will subtract 1/12. Your Deferred Balance Amount can be found on your Reliant bill.
